This is the first short story that reads like a whole story! So many seem unfinished. I like this one a lot!!
Enjoyed the story but it was over too quickly. Just getting into it and then it's over. Would have liked to hear more about their date.
cute romance short not bad for a first release
First book by this Author. This book centers around High School / High School age kids. Even though I haven't been a teenager for over 20 years, I still enjoyed this book.It basically resolves around a party & a couple days at school. I found it cute! You know a flashback to when ... you think your friends will always be your friends. The first thrill of knowing a boy might like you. The nervousness of a first kiss.Though it does have quiet a bit of what seems like underage drinking. There is no sex scenes.I found the book well written & with minimal editing errors.
This would be a good book - if I was 11. Amazon actually recommended the second book in this series to me, so I figured I would read the first one to see how it begins. Big mistake. The writing style is very juvenile. I felt like the characters were in junior high. The plot is lame. The main character Kenzie’s endless rambling thoughts gave me a headache. There are way too many side characters with little purpose to this story. I can only assume these introductions are an attempt to set up future stories. At the end of this super short story, there are sneak peeks of this writer’s upcoming stories. Unfortunately, the first sneak peek was for Book 3 instead of 2. It immediately gives spoilers for book 2, so no need to read book 2 anymore.
Cute story. I was in the mood for something Kasie West-ish and it at least had some of the flavor.I'm laughing at the reviews saying it's too immature to be high school. Depends on how you define maturity and who you're using to measure. There's a wide range of maturity in high school. And I can show you a sadly large number of adults who act like the characters in this story.I dislike the swearing, taking the Lord's Name in vain, and recreational sex (undetailed, thankfully, but is as anti-romance as it gets). Sure, it's common, but leaving it out, or at least backgrounding it, doesn't take away from the story any more than leaving out the characters' toilet habits does - as authors like Janette Rallison & Kristen Noorman have successfully proven.
The grammar and spelling are bad enough to make you really dislike it. It is a very common trope, the boy who acts out/teases due to liking the girl. I felt that was resolved way too quickly.
1) too short2) too many ‘in’s mistakenly written as ‘on’ and vice versa...3) too many backstories that you don’t know enough about...I will try the next book because I enjoyed the story though.
