This is NOT the right book to get for your first foray into discovering the Goddess. DO get this book if you are looking to refine your knowledge, want to really tailor who you talk to, or want specifics on which Goddess is the best for specific situations. It is a fabulous cross-reference, which is what the author says was her goal. A wonderful addition to a library, but not necessarily a 'solo' book.
I'm an orisha practicioner and initiate. So many inaccuracies in this book about oshun, yemaya and odudua. Had to return it.
This book pretty much lists all the goddesses out there. While it doesn't give everything known about them, there is more than enough information to help with ritual choices and associations. And if you don't know much about the goddess you can use this book as a starting place for more research.I would recommend the Goddess Guide to anyone who is unfamiliar with world goddesses or anyone who wants quick information.
Priestess Brandi Auset has put together a well organized collection of Goddesses and their Correspondences. I am sure I will use this guide more often than I think as I become more acquainted with the many facets of Goddess worship all over the world. An excellent tool for writing and ritual as well.
I have gotten more use out of this book than probably any other book I have, and I have a lot!!!
It is a wonderful resource for introduction to different Goddesses. I've been introduced to some I probably would have never met without this book. I would have liked a little more information on the regions they are from. I would have also liked a little more information on the rites associated with each Goddess. Overall, though, this is a great resource.
I was blown away by this book, it has a Goddess for every purpose, and a Goddess from every corner of the earth, I mean this is the ultimate guide to the various Goddesses, my copy is worn and tattered and well loved. I'm going to buy my daughters their own copies. this Goddess guide has everything from the very ancient to the most recently resurrected. you will never run out of Goddesses to invoke, I'm in awe such a beautiful gem of a book was published. my eternal thanks and blessings to Goddess Brandi Auset.
I bought this book for my wife and she loves it! The information is just what she wanted . Lots of interesting info and different goddesses than what is normally found in a book like this easy to read and organized well.!
