My kid loves T. Rexes, and this book is super cute. The rhyme scheme is smooth and easy to read. The illustrations are cute and bright. I love Little Golden Books, and this is no exception.
We found this when our little girl (18 mo) started learning about dinosaurs at daycare. She loves it! There's enough repetition and rhyming and roaring to keep her attention and to make it fun to read out loud. I also appreciate that, as another review noted, it's "mildly educational" and not just pure fluff. Although it took my husband and me a few readings to realize the true irony of the book -- this ferocious T Rex is actually just a little guy -- that just makes it even more fun.
It's cute and funny. Before I wrapped it I read it. It made me chuckle. My son just loved it. He's starting 1st grade this fall and loves to practice his reading. There are a few dinosaur names in it though, that might be hard for a child to pronounce. So, expect them asking for a bit of help. Otherwise they should be able to read it themselves.
My kids have recently gotten into the The Golden Books and I'm slowly trying to add to the collection. Not only are these books nostalgic for me, but, also they are the perfect length and size to read bedtime stories with, take to places where I know we'll have to wait (i.e. restaurants), traveling, etc...This in particular was a special request from my dinosaur loving son. It's a sweet little book with lots of potential for funny voices to read with.
I'm a T-Rex is currently one of my Munchkin's favorite books.There's no real plot. It's simply a T-Rex explaining what he is - a big, ferocious, fighting, yet loveable T-Rex. The story has enough rhythm to make it fun to read and, when read aloud, my daughter and I have fun yelling the line "I'm a T-rex".In addition to having some very cute pictures, the book gives actual information about the T-Rex, including where he gets his name, how and when he lived, and some of the other dinosaurs that lived back then.My daughter is a beginning reader and loves reading this aloud to other people. And enjoys the look on their faces when she reads words like Cretaceous.This book is a winner!
Wonderful Illustrations. Fun book. I bought this for my 3 yo grandson. I enjoy the book as much as he does. Love the illustrations and the story line is very cute. Would recommend.
Super cute book. It has nice color pages and the story is about a trex. It has held up well to my daughter dragging it around. The pages can get torn easily by a younger child.
I’m not a huge fan of the book itself because the story is very short and a little silly, but the kid enjoys it and I guess that’s what really matters in the end.
From the tip of my tail to the top of my snout, theres just no doubt... my son loves this book. Almost every night we have story time before bed and he runs to grab this book out of the 50+ he has. He always "roars" when the book mentions T.Rex and he smiles and giggles when the mommy T.Rex makes her appearance.
