No, for real, this book is great. It's got real talk about what it's really like to be a bridesmaid (written by an actual MoH- all the other books I looked at on Amazon were written by brides or wedding planners).Example of situation: planning the bachelorette party and the mothers of the bride and groom want to come too. First off, bachelorette parties are hardly covered in any of the other books (if at all). None mention how to deal with moms wanting to come along (just tell them no, fyi. The mother of the groom doesn't want to see her future daughter-in-law drunk and talking sex, the bride's mom will be emotional about her baby girl getting married, and the bridesmaids will all be uncomfortable). This book is the cheapest thing you'll buy in regards to the wedding, so just get it already.
There are so many books out there for the bride, be it humorous or Miss Manners style, but there's been nothing like this for the bridesmaid -- until now. How do you know what you're supposed to do as soon as you accept your excited friend's request to be in her wedding? If you don't know, you're either going to A) end up being bossed around for the next year or two, or B) make a horrible mistake and she'll hate you forever. Both scenarios can be avoided by reading this book. It gives the crucial information needed to be a successful support to the bride, all the while peppered with hilarious stories of what NOT to do. As a former wedding planner, I can attest that the advice in this book is very sound and something you need to know. I highly recommend it for anyone involved in a wedding.
Wow. I do not have the gift of writing but Jaqueline sure does. Having been a bridesmaid and maid of honor in numerous weddings, this author is right on. It's funny, but true. It's insightful and a great how-to without being boring or dumb. I couldn't put it down. It made me laugh, cry, and gasp. I would give this to anyone getting married. I would give this to all my bridesmaids and have a good laugh and chat about the impending doom of this thing we call weddings. Weddings are inevitable. Unfortunately when we are too young and dumb to prepare or have a functional thought about what our roles are and how to execute them in a manner that will last a lifetime. Thank You Jaqueline for writing such a fun book, that is useful, insightful, and true. Can you write one about baby showers and births next?
This is the perfect gift for that one bridesmaid in the bunch who says (and maybe means it!) she'll never marry, herself. Mine loved it.
I just finished reading F@#% the Knot and I have to say I laughed out loud. It reminded me why I never want to be a bridesmaid again.. and what not to do, if I am ever asked to be one again. The author has a way with words and I couldn't put the book down once I started reading it. With the tongue in cheek suggestions and the honest review of what not to do, this will become a staple for all of the bridemaids out there that want to know... How to say NO! I won't do that.
