This new Combo deal Amazon is doing with the purchase of a new book you get a PDF searchable Kindle copy. Because of it my study habits have improved as well as my overall performance. Reading the chapters and doing the questions at the same time by having my book, my computer and my tablet with potential laptop and phone if needed open at the same time makes looking for exact wording and location of the answers amazingly easy. The Kindle version is searchable with note taking ability, book marks, miniature page scan capability and a few other options that I have not yet had the time to explore, but what I can tell you is, if you plan on keeping your book after the classes that require it are over, I would highly suggest this combo. Even if you are not it is worth considering just for how much it helps with studying being able to have the questions right in front of you while searching the PDF and having the hard cover available to leave on a specific page. I was more than happy to hand over the 200 for the both of them, especially when I heard another of my classmates payed $275 for his book and he didn't get a PDF.
Sean Bennett is arguably one of the most knowledgeable equipment technical author/educators in North America. This edition is his best; buy it, keep it in your tool box/shelf, and be happy with the money well spent. He's one of the rare guys that writes from a mechanics perspective; savvy with the most advanced technology but knows the legacy platforms as well. He knows what he's talking about.

Got this book for my diesel class last year, good book, its held up my minor abuses to it.
Not a quick read, has in-depth subject matter and text is very detailed with excellent illustrations. End of chapter questions somewhat difficult, however if you comprehened the material in the chapter you should have no problem in answering the questions. The questions are worded in such a way that it forces one to think, and even though there is no answer key, all of the answers can be found in the chapter material if you look hard enough. This is an excellent study guide for serious techs who really want to earn their ASE certification.
The item shipped fast, however, the book is in really bad condition. The front cover and binding is separated from the book. I hope they realize this when it gets returned!
